Clocks and Telephones
Many clocks were formed from a hard stone medium such as marble and were large and impressive. Designed to adorn mantels, desks and dressing tables, they featured spelter and bronze female and animal figures. Bakelite was widely used to make telephones during the first half of the 20th century – in addition to the characteristic brown/black colourway, many telephones were manufactured in bold colours such as red and green.
